Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep
Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep is a powerful organization that is also difficult to discuss. Working with NILMDTS has been an honor, yes. It is also heart-wrenching for all involved. I kept the application to join on my desk for a few years, willing myself to have the courage to fill it out and send it in for approval. I finally did, and I started participating after speaking with Aimee Bickers, who had already done 20 of these shoots when we spoke. I couldn't imagine how sh

new issue of Design Aglow
I am loving the beautiful new issue of photography, design & inspiration that was just made available for purchase at Design Aglow. The issue is a wonderful combination of interesting interviews, great writing and gorgeous photography - serious eye candy! I am honored to be included in this issue, along with some other very talented photographers whose work and business styles I admire. If you're a photographer, you can see some very cool write-ups from/about Audrey Wo

my work in O Magazine, Vogue & Elle!
A bridal portrait I photographed of the gorgeous Carrie Williamson was picked up for exclusive usage (with the blessings of Carrie, of course!) by a cosmetics company, and it's been great fun to see them use this image as the sole core-message photograph in their national campaign. I'd seen it last month in Ladies Home Journal and Martha Stewart (I am really enjoying Martha Stewart nowadays :) And then I saw that it appeared in Vogue Magazine and Elle Magazine this month,

The Martha Stewart Show!
I recently received a call from the artists at Waxworks, who produce beautiful encaustic paintings from images that professional photographers create. They wanted to ask my permission to use one of my pieces on The Martha Stewart show for a full segment they were taping in the New York. I have only had a couple pieces made (I'm absolutely planning to create more), but I was thrilled that the piece they chose was also one of my little girl. Considering they chose this as on

life as an art form - workshop announcement
I am excited to announce that I will be the Guest Speaker at Jesh De Rox's life (as an art form) workshop in Boston. The workshop is April 29th - May 1st, and you can learn more details here. If you aren't familiar with his gorgeous work already, check out Jesh's website. The workshops fill up quickly, as they are really more of an experience than straight instruction. This workshop has only just been announced - so, if interested, you can email life@jeshderox.com and wr

One Million Views and Just As Many Words to Define It
Sometime last night, we surpassed one million page views on this blog. That's a bit astounding to me, as this blog is only 4 3/4 months old. *(I measure time like my children do now. My son is not 3 and he's not 3 1/2, but he's not quite 4, so of course he is 3 3/4 years old).* We weren't even tracking statistics on our old blog, and I barely look at my website traffic, but these stats have been really cool to follow. So as my mind boggled a bit at one million page vie

the art of (yummy) cake
Greg Bingham, the Sugar Artist and Owner of The Art of Cake , is a seriously fabulous cake designer. He puts such passion and focus into his work, and his cakes are simply little works of art. And, actually, the wedding cakes are not really little!! But they are typically just such fun to examine, and they taste amazing. You know how you sometimes have to judge if a definitely-not-low-fat food is worth it? Well, his cakes are always worth it. I have tried quite a few o

the convention is officially over!
Wow - was that an amazing experience! The photography convention went sooooo extremely well, and I enjoyed not only meeting up with some top-tier shooters from around the world, but also getting the opportunity to hear some fantastic speakers, as well as present a lot of my thoughts & ideas to others. I have to share some of the feedback I received, if only to give you an idea of how smart the attendees were :) Some comments from the uber-talented Matt Radlinski (of K-

Life at the Convention
I'm running a tad behind on posting right now because I'm in Tampa Bay, Florida for a photography convention. I'm actually surrounded by a great international collection of photographers who are meeting for a series of seminars about all things photography. I am one of the Speakers here, which is really quite an honor, especially with the talent among these 500+ photographers assembled (several of whom have been deemed "top 10" in the world). I deliver my seminar on Monda

Rangefinder Magazine
I was pretty thrilled to be profiled in a 4-page spread in Rangefinder Magazine in November, the signature magazine for professional photographers (that I also happen to pore through every month). I remember being in awe of those profiled photographers when I first started out, so it's quite cool to come full circle in regards to this particular publication. And thanks for Amber Holritz for writing such a nice piece!

blog tag
I am having lunch with a few photographer friends tomorrow, and since we don't have a lot of time to meet, much less eat (definitely in the thick of the Busy Season), I thought I might check out their blogs so that I could be more up to speed with their work, lives, etc. - y'know, cheat and pretend that I've been following their lives a bit more. Anyway, while perusing, I saw that I was tagged on James & Meredith Walters' blog. About 2 months ago. Oops. Blog Tag: to
