Back from Miraval
The Exploring Love Retreat at Miraval Resort. How to sum up? Peaceful. Honest. Funny. Authentic. Sweet. More of all that than any other retreat I've ever been a part of on this particular planet. An opportunity for several diverse and talented presenters and some unbelievably open-hearted (and talented) participants to engage in a dialogue about the topic of love. Which, apparently, includes pretty much every sub topic. It's like having an easy and fascinating conv

The Florida PPA State Convention
A hearty thank you to the Florida PPA State Convention for inviting me down to speak during your festivities! Loved the fun welcome basket and cool certificate (seriously, who does not like to be appreciated - and in certificate form?? Awesome!) I'm so grateful to Simply Canvas and Buckeye Color Lab for sponsoring this presentation--two absolutely wonderful vendors to work with, no doubt. Thanks for the sweet personalized pickup from the airport, Mr. Matt Radlinski. No

The McCain-Palin VP Announcement
After a surreal week of traveling to speak at the Florida PPA State Convention (more on that very soon!) and heading back for a day before flying out to Ohio to cover the MCain Campaign's VP pick, I'm just now back at home and in catch up mode. I will post more images from this series of shoots - as well as some new photographs from a very recent Barack Obama town hall meeting - in the next few days. Many more to come, but I'm holding back several images for the article I'm

Interview for DWF University
I was honored recently to be asked to contribute to the brand new university section of one of the most active, cutting-edge photography forums on the web for photographers, the digital wedding forum - although that's a bit of a misnomer, as there's enough education and information on there for a photographer of any discipline! Thanks to Tim Uhl, DWF's Marketing Director, for making it such an easy interview :) Here's just the lead-in to the video - I was reminded that the

“The Art of Children’s Portrait Photography”
I just turned around the fourth and final proof of the book I've been working on for the last year (plus) - each time was a different review: text review, layout review, photography review, etc. This last review was the print review, and all looks just so wonderful. Amherst Media really did a fantastic job laying this book out, considering just how much text there is (trust me - A LOT), the book is quite visual with tons of huge photographs and cool spreads. I'll add a fe

Fun New Poster
I just saw this cool new design, showcasing the addition of Jerry Ghionis to the Image X lineup in New Orleans - I am pretty sure that the wavy bumps in our faces is due to the addition of a layer of design paper, not a virtual skin issue of any sort :) When I see fun new layouts like this, I wish I could just talk to the world clock people about adding on a few more hours to each day to just sit, play and design. But, as I understand it, they're not taking any calls...

The Knot Magazine - Nicole & Trey
The newest issue of The Knot Magazine came out for Fall/Winter 2008, with a sweet piece on Nicole & Trey's gorgeous wedding. Some other fun images from the day - including the very cool stop at Cameron at Duke for "formals"!

Design Aglow Yumminess
My good friend Lena Hyde always has the best design papers and tools over at Design Aglow! Since one of my favorite things to do is sit down with my photography and start designing something new from scratch, it's fantastic to have a brand new set of tools to do so with - I love the design kit I received recently... I also love their wrap-around ideas for presentation boxes, also available at Design Aglow... Great new product that I'll be offering my awesome clients!! And

Simply Canvas Studio Love
A heartfelt thank you to Simply Canvas for some sweet recognition of our studio this month!! Given that they service thousands of clients, it's quite an honor. We are huge fans of their truly exceptional work, so the award (thanks to Adam, Patrick, Christine, Lindsay and Drew for sending it!), along with an unexpected gift certificate, was quite cool. We so look forward to continuing to work together for some time to come!! The clickthrough piece:

Mandala
I had the pleasure of spending this past Saturday with a bunch of fantastic kids ... What did they all have in common? They and their parents and their friends were all out for a fundraising effort for Mandala Adoption Services. Specifically, to support their humanitarian efforts with under-funded orphanages around the world. Not long ago, there was an article in the News & Observer that outlined some of the challenges facing the international adoption community righ
