My two very favorite small humans accomplished big things today. Sophie opened up her first email account and started corresponding in earnest. At age 6, she's a strong believer in the liberal use of emoticons. Preferably ones that bounce and are shiny. And Caleb is apparently a world class gymnast. He shocked us all by executing a perfect roundoff from the couch to the ottomon to the floor, sticking the landing. And then he did it again, flawlessly. Age 4. Who knew??

It's been one heck of a week and more on the way - packing up the suitcase for a quick weekend out of town, I wanted to show a sneak peak from my shoot with the ready-for-primetime Whitsell Family - much more to come!!

Kerry and Bob are getting married later this year but already have two kids, with some seriously beautiful tongues :) For our engagement session, we met up at Kerry's parent's new house, beautifully unfurnished inside - a fabulous enough location - but then the grounds around the house were lush & beautiful, as well. Everyone was happy: Meet the kids... Love this....!

So yesterday morning I woke up at 4am. And then again at 4:10am. And then finally got vertical at 4:20am - so that I could rush to finish packing up my gear and catch a 6am flight to Atlanta. Once there, I picked up a rental car and drove 2 hours out to Lake Martin, Alabama where I met up with The Gorecki Family. They flew me out to photograph their family, as well as their brother's - and we also did a documentary-style capture of their fun, highly adventurous afternoon

Scott Johnson was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at the age of three months old. By the time he was 29, he was told that he needed to get a double lung transplant or he would die. His lungs had been completely ravaged by the disease and couldn't support his bodily functions any more. After a bout with bacterial pneumonia, his health deteriorated rapidly. For two months he waited in a hospital bed, falling in and out of comas, learning that organs were possibly coming availabl

Nancy was blessed with youthful great looks - I didn't really think about what age she was when I met her, but her sister-in-law laughs about the first time she heard Nancy apologize for being late because she was in surgery ... she was wondering what surgical procedure Nancy had to undergo, not realizing that Nancy was talking about being in a surgery....as the actual surgeon! But all of those words spring to mind when I think back to the feel of this shoot :) I love the love in a mother's expression when she holds her child tight. It doesn't matter if it's her toddler or her grown child - even if it's just for a moment, I find that I nearly always see this fabulous expression of peaceful, sweet happ
