After I posted about my experience photographing the McCain-Palin rally, the VP announcement, I received several messages asking where the Obama photographs were to balance that out. Funny because I got the same messages in reverse every time I posted my Senator Obama photographs. Dramatic sigh. I was flipping through Martha Stewart Living and saw another one of my photographs in the magazine, this time for a Nestle Toll House Cookie ad. My kids soooo approve. And, huge bonus, it's one of my sweet friend (and client!) Alisa & her bubbly, beautiful daughter Parker. I immediately emailed her, thinking it would be this huge surprise, and she tells me she's already heard from everyone and the calls just keep coming in. (I guess it's a pretty big circulation, and

Shalane Flanagan took the bronze medal today in the 10,000 meter run, beating even her own American Record with a time of 30 minutes, 22:22 seconds, racing in front of 91,000 spectators. Even more amazing, Shalane was able to overcome a nasty bout of food poisoning that she picked up only 4 days earlier. Looking forward to her 5000 meter run in a few days...! I am out in the gorgeous Outer Banks of North Carolina this week. For those of you who aren't familiar, it's this beautiful string of islands off the coast - and a lovely host for all kinds of native animals. We've seen a bunch of them just around the beach house and up & down the coastline. My favorite so far is the bouncy, sticky, boomerang-like tree frog! I am loving destination portraiture - I've been shooting sessions outside of the area for years now, certainly tons of beach trips but also week-long sessions in different cities, states, cross country, etc. - but traveling out for just a day or two has been getting more popular lately, and a great deal of fun. My two very favorite small humans accomplished big things today. Sophie opened up her first email account and started corresponding in earnest. At age 6, she's a strong believer in the liberal use of emoticons. Preferably ones that bounce and are shiny. And Caleb is apparently a world class gymnast. He shocked us all by executing a perfect roundoff from the couch to the ottomon to the floor, sticking the landing. And then he did it again, flawlessly. Age 4. Who knew??
