Photographs from The Barack Obama Experience :)

So I promised images from the day with Barack Obama. Here are some shots Steve grabbed of me, seriously excited (fired up & ready to go!!!) to photograph everything…

And the subject himself…this was photographed from about 50 feet back, in a crowd of thousands.

Then we moved up to the buffer…now about 5 feet away…

And here’s what I was getting, and much, much more – but we are keeping some images under wraps for exclusivity in the magazine…

After a good long while, I moved to the risers, behind the Senator, and I got this:

At that point, I realized I was photographing next to Annie Leibovitz, so I simply had to rock a half step back and get this image:

I love the energy in this, the crowd was so with him…

Super cool lighting as he was heading out of the venue, surrounded by Secret Service…

And waiting for him at the end was Anderson Cooper, from CNN 360, also sweet enough to let me take a few portraits of him…

And then, my moment of pure cheesiness – a photograph with the legend herself. Steve told me that he’d never seen me smile in a more dorky way, but I think it shows exactly what I was thinking…”Holy crap, I’m at this very moment hanging out next to Annie Leibovitz. And we’re smiling together. And this rocks!!!”

There can be no lack of cheese in that moment šŸ™‚

Afterwards, we went to a private reception, where I got to get some very different, quieter photographs of the Senator:

Here I am, thinking, “Holy crap, I’m at this very moment hanging out next to Barack Obama. And I’m smiling and he’s awesome. And this rocks!!!” (He’s standing on a bench so every one in the room could see him. He made a joke about a basketball player not happy about being asked to be on the bench but obliged anyway)

The esteemed Democratic candidate for President explaining the more specific details of his economic stimulus package with me šŸ˜‰ …. Thanks for grabbing this shot, Steve!

And a huge thanks to Tamela Wallace, whose wedding I photographed in October , who kept me in the loop as the inside track changed by the minute šŸ™‚

And for those Democrats who might feel left out of the post, no worries – I’m photographing President Bill Clinton this afternoon…

I love the first shot you posted of Barack . . . the bright colors, his amazing smile, the excited crowd. What an incredible experience. I’m so proud to have worked with you! You really are an incredible talent. As for Annie, she’s great and all, but all she has on you is a few years. You’ll be right there with her before you know it!

Holly, hah! As much as I so appreciate your sweet sentiment, she might have a bit more on me than that šŸ™‚ By the way, for someone who is always behind the lens, I thought she had such an interesting and beautiful face. (and you know I loved working with you, too!)

  51. Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
