I traveled to gorgeous Kiawah Island for Jennifer & Matt’s wedding and reception, which unfolded under sunny skies … thick cloud cover … a torrential downpour .. one stunning sunset … a dark pink-streaked late evening, and such a clear & starry-skied finish. The adventurous weather was almost as much of a guest as the loved ones attending.

The extreme weather had actually been more of a factor the night before, though. I had flown into Hilton Head Island airport by, uh, accident. I always leave a lot of time for destination wedding travel, though, as I learned to do quite some time ago … so I was more than fine to drive the several hours out to Kiawah Island. The problem, of course, was that my drive coincided with a massive storm – complete with flying debris, tree branches dropping down in front and behind and on top of my car, flashing lightning, blinding rain … oh, and the only road in and out of the island is extremely dark, save the rapid punctuation of the jagged lightning. Gulp. Soooo, y’know, not exactly a calm & peaceful ride in (okay, fine, I was scared).

Either way, I was definitely up bright and early the next morning – and probably still on high alert, hah – but very ready for the full day and night festivities already getting under way.

As I mentioned in my last post, Jennifer is the sister of Christi-Ann,. The two sisters are so very close and yet planned and enjoyed two very different weddings.

Jennifer was in such an anticipatory mood, giddy and just *ready* … truly lovely …

The house where everyone was getting ready had a lovely pool that spilled over into a small river behind them – I suggested that they tiptoe out to the edge simply for the fun of the photograph…and was pleasantly surprised when they actually did πŸ˜‰

The sweetness of these girls with their dad and mom made me tear up at both of their weddings…

We were able to take advantage of the gorgeous greens of the island *just* before the downpour hit…

Grateful to catch this honest, emotional moment between sisters…

Yes, that’s the gorgeous bride doing some seriously impressive break dancing. I love how Matt is so proud of her sweet moves πŸ˜‰

Congratulations, Jennifer & Matt!!!
